Prohibited

Search for an item in English, Uzbek or Russian. Each rule says who sets it: Uzbek customs, the airline, UK sanctions or us.

Limited or needs a permit

Allowed only in small amounts, or with a certificate or permit.

Limited or needs a permit

Medicines (prescription and over-the-counter)

Medicines need a Ministry of Health permit in Uzbekistan, and customs often holds parcels that contain them. Send only small personal amounts in the original sealed packs with a copy of the prescription, and tell us before you pack. Strong painkillers and sleeping pills may count as narcotics.

Limited or needs a permit

Vitamins and dietary supplements

Uzbek customs allows up to 10 different supplements per person, one pack of each and no more than 3 kg in total. More than that is treated as commercial. Keep them in the original sealed packs and list each one on the declaration.

Limited or needs a permit

Medical devices

Medical devices such as glucose meters, test strips, syringes and hearing aids can need a permit. A single device for personal use is usually fine; tell us in advance and keep the receipt.

Limited or needs a permit

Perfume and aftershave

Uzbek customs allows up to 3 bottles per person, 300 ml in total. Perfume is also a flammable liquid on aircraft, so it can only fly in small amounts in the original sealed box. Tell us before you send it and we will confirm what can go on the next flight.

Limited or needs a permit

Mobile phones

A phone only works on Uzbek networks after its IMEI is registered and the fee is paid, which the recipient does via uzimei.uz or my.gov.uz. Several phones in one parcel or month look commercial. Tell us in advance and include the phone in the declaration with its real value.

Limited or needs a permit

Seeds, plants, fruit and vegetables

Plant products need a phytosanitary certificate to enter Uzbekistan, which private senders cannot get for a parcel. Without it they are destroyed at customs. Buy seeds and seedlings locally instead.

Limited or needs a permit

Meat, sausages and fish

Animal products need a veterinary certificate to enter Uzbekistan, and customs destroys them without one. They also spoil during the journey. Send sweets, tea or other shelf-stable food in shop packaging instead.

Limited or needs a permit

Dairy, eggs and honey

These are animal products and need a veterinary certificate. Factory-sealed baby formula for personal use is usually accepted; ask us before sending it. Leave cheese, butter, eggs and honey out.

Limited or needs a permit

Pet food and animal feed

Pet food contains animal products, so it falls under the same veterinary rules as meat. It is usually cheaper to buy the same brands in Uzbekistan.

Limited or needs a permit

Cash and currency

Cash in parcels is not insured and has to be declared to customs, so we do not accept it. Use a bank transfer or a money-transfer service to send money to Uzbekistan.

Limited or needs a permit

Jewellery, gold and precious stones

A few personal pieces can be declared at their real value, but jewellery in commercial quantities needs import permits and assay checks. Bullion and loose precious stones are not accepted. Declare every piece and add insurance.

Limited or needs a permit

Radio transmitters and walkie-talkies

Radio-electronic and high-frequency devices need a permit to be imported into Uzbekistan, and signal jammers are not allowed at all. Ordinary phones, Wi-Fi routers and Bluetooth headphones are fine.

Limited or needs a permit

Antiques and cultural valuables

Antiques, old manuscripts, collectible coins and artworks count as cultural valuables and need an expert certificate. Send modern reproductions or ask us about the paperwork first.

Limited or needs a permit

Goods for resale (commercial quantities)

Many identical items, repeat shipments of the same goods or goods that do not fit the recipient are treated as commercial by Uzbek customs. They lose the $200 monthly allowance and need full import clearance. Use our commercial service for these.
